DATA GATHERING WORKSHOP

As part of GED Africa’s commitment to facilitating access to employment opportunities brought by the KMTR project, we are proud to have introduced a digital process for gathering and sharing data between job seeking members of the local community and our contractors.

Utilizing a secure digital platform, the data is stored and shared with contractors when general labour positions become available across the project footprint. This approach is aimed at improving localisation, ensuring positions that may not require any experience are filled from members of our host communities.

This initiative helps reduce identity fraud and migrant workers while stimulating the local economy and keeping families together.

We pledged to surpass the mandatory 20% workshare requirement by committing to engage local contractors for a minimum 30% of the project works. This policy complements our efforts in community development and livelihood restoration, ensuring a greater impact on the local economy and enhancing the well-being of our host communities.

SUSTAINABILITY OVERVIEW

Socio-economic impact

A project of this magnitude will create part-time and full-time jobs in both the short- and long-term, increase skills and expertise transfer and boost local and cross-border trade and associated economic growth through enhanced regional connectivity.

The collaboration between GED Africa and the governments of the Democratic  Republic of Congo and the Republic of Zambia is further aligned with the UNDP’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

Community DEVELOPMENT

The communities surrounding the project area are our most important stakeholders. Our dedicated community engagement teams have opened lines of dialogue and earned trust through transparency and the building of positive community relations. We will continue to keep community leaders and families informed, and always include them in the progress of the project.

GED Africa will continue to invest in educational and training institutions in the region to promote the next generation of technically skilled workers.

EMPOWERMENT & LOCALISATION

In line with relevant legislation, GED Africa remains unwavering in:

Continually striving to create jobs and equal employment opportunities
Promoting equality through its policies, procedures, practices
