CHILDREN'S ROAD SAFETY
As part of GED Africa’s commitment to the well-being of communities along the Kasomeno–Mwenda Toll Road (KMTR) corridor, we have created a Children’s Road Safety Campaign, an initiative focused on building awareness and safe habits among the youngest community members.
Lessons of Our Road Safety Campaign
- Walking By the Road Safely
- Crossing the Road Safely
- Ensuring Good Visibility when Walking
- Staying Away from Construction Equipment
Campaign Launch
We officially launched our Children’s Road Safety Campaign in Zambia with two Road Safety Fun Days – one at Mambilima Special School, an institution dedicated to learners with special needs, and another at Kashiba Primary School.
Both events featured interactive learning stations, creative activities, and inclusive road safety education tailored to young learners.

Interactive Learning: Stations and Educational Materials
To effectively engage young learners, we developed a range of tailored educational tools and paired them with hands-on activity stations at our Road Safety Fun Days, designed to make road safety fun and memorable.
Stations included:
- 📖 Reading Corner – Smart Choices, Safe Journeys Storybook
- 🎨 Colouring Station
- 🧩 Puzzle Challenges
- ⚽ Friendly Football Matches
- 🎶 Road Safety Songs
By making learning interactive, we aim to proactively teach good safety habits, ensuring the youngest community members are better prepared and informed as their surroundings change.
This marks the beginning of many Road Safety Campaign activities to be held across the entire project footprint. Our goal is to ensure that every child and every community along the KMTR corridor feels informed, equipped, and protected as development progresses.
