ROAD SAFETY

At GED Africa, we understand that the construction of new roads and the subsequent increase in traffic necessitate heightened awareness around road safety, particularly for the youngest members of the host communities. To address this critical need, we have initiated the development of road safety infographics as part of a comprehensive Road Safety Community Campaign, set to launch later this year.

Recognising the importance of creating effective and regionally appropriate educational materials, we have conducted focus groups with children to gather feedback on the infographics. These sessions have been instrumental in ensuring that the content we develop is engaging, understandable, and relevant to the local context.

The Road Safety Community Campaign will educate children on essential road safety practices, helping them navigate their environments safely and confidently. By involving community members in the development process, we ensure that our materials will resonate and effectively educate.

As we move forward with this campaign, we remain committed to fostering safer communities through proactive education and engagement. This initiative reflects our broader commitment to sustainable development and the well-being of the communities in which we operate.

SUSTAINABILITY OVERVIEW

Socio-economic impact

A project of this magnitude will create part-time and full-time jobs in both the short- and long-term, increase skills and expertise transfer and boost local and cross-border trade and associated economic growth through enhanced regional connectivity.

The collaboration between GED Africa and the governments of the Democratic  Republic of Congo and the Republic of Zambia is further aligned with the UNDP’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

Community DEVELOPMENT

The communities surrounding the project area are our most important stakeholders. Our dedicated community engagement teams have opened lines of dialogue and earned trust through transparency and the building of positive community relations. We will continue to keep community leaders and families informed, and always include them in the progress of the project.

GED Africa will continue to invest in educational and training institutions in the region to promote the next generation of technically skilled workers.

EMPOWERMENT & LOCALISATION

In line with relevant legislation, GED Africa remains unwavering in:

Continually striving to create jobs and equal employment opportunities
Promoting equality through its policies, procedures, practices
